  1. The photographs of 1930s India are interesting. I like photos of ordinary life; that's where the real history is.

    And I recall how neat it was when I learned about 'Pancake Tursday' as a boy; learning that Mardi Gras meant 'Fat Tuesday' gave me a clue.
