Back in the early '70's I saw my first Eastern Coyote here in Connecticut - the DEP Wildlife's official position at the time was that they did not exist, a position that didn't change for almost 20 years. Forty years ago a bear sighted in the state made the news, now we have a fair population of them, occasionally coming within a few blocks of my house. My late friend Ken told me he had spotted a cougar in a state park in the late '90's - he wouldn't have lied about it & I don't think he'd have made a mistake. Meanwhile I've got a bobcat that's moved into my neighborhood during the past three months, the pics are on my facebook page..
ReplyDeleteThe story about Teddy Tucker is very interesting. What I like most is that he seemed to be a man who respected the relics he explored and respected the process of discovery, taking it slowly.
