Why Jane would wait fourteen or fifteen years to poison Scawen, when she probably could have done it earlier, with beneficial results, suggests that she didn't do it. And of course, as was pointed out, Scawen was nearing the end of his time anyway. Lady Mead, on the other hand, seems not to have had a recurring opportunity to poison her brother.
